St. Denis RC Church, St. Catharines, Ontario
This church was originally built and completed in 1961 for the St. Denis parish at the north end of the city.  After some years of some neglect it needed to be upgraded.  Parishioners could not read their prayer books due to poor ceiling lighting.
 
Rev. Msgr. Melvyn J. Schaefer hired us to solve the problem.  We designed false beams that brought more light into the church, maintained original ceiling height and created structural interest.  The font, the stations of the cross and the staircase to the mezzanine were also designed to reflect the period in which the original church was built.

Woods End Condominiums, Mississauga, Ontario
This is a six-storey condominium building measuring 7 214 sq. m., 19.15 m. high, with 62 two-bedroom units, and six two-storey units.  The developer/owner of this land was granted permission for new zoning and asked us to help meet the requirements.  The property which borders a conservation area of thick woods, needed to be separate from and non-accessible to the building and its owners.  We were able to meet the challenge and create magnificent views of nature and peace for most of the units.  We also designed a guest suite, a party room, an exercise room and underground parking for this building.

NISSAN Automobile Dealership, New and Used vehicles, Scarborough
This project is located in an enclave of automobile dealerships in Scarborough.  The dealership owner at the time retained this practice to receive a site variance from the City of Toronto and to design and produce all documents good for building permit, approvals from all authorities having jurisdiction, including head office requirements of Nissan, project tender and construction.
 
The owner wanted this building to stand out so that it could be seen from a distance, especially on Highway 401.

THE BRICK Furniture store, Whitby
This is an example of a "big box store" where the practice was retained by developers to design and prepare all construction documents necessary for site rezoning, site planning, permit application, construction tendering and construction.    
 
THE BRICK head office in Alberta provided trademark and image requirements for all their stores.  The Town of Whitby also had certain requirements as well, especially in the design of the sides and rear of the building, which are highly visible from the off ramp exit at Highway 401.

Queen Street East mixed use, THE BEACHES, Toronto
This is an example of the architect as referee.  The three properties shown in this photograph were owned by three separate owners.  The buildings were originally set back from the sidewalk by about 15 m.  Each owner had differing ideas on how to design a commercial amalgamation of the three properties.  There was also some tension from neighbours who opposed the project, at the Committee of Adjustment.
 
The architect took into consideration all opinions and worked out a final proposal that satisfied everyone.  The result is three attached buildings emulating the period design of the surrounding neighbourhood.  Today it appears as if it has always been there.
